How to Fix iPhone iOS 16/15 Stuck on Preparing Update/Verifying Update?
When the iOS16 beta update is available, your device will prompt an update notification. If this happens, you can choose to update your iPhone wirelessly. You can install iOS 16 updates just a few taps. But things can go wrong, so you will realize that your iPhone is not updated because it is stuck on preparing or verifying the update.
If you encounter the issue of stuck verifying updates when trying to install iOS 15 on your iPhone, then this article may help you. Read on to find out why your iPhone is stuck on “Verifying Update” and how to fix it.
1. Release your storage space
Before you start troubleshooting, check the memory status of your phone and make sure that the available storage space is sufficient to allocate iOS update files. If necessary, free up some space by deleting old and unused files and apps from iPhone storage. To check the current memory status, go to the Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage menu, and then check the available storage space. If the available storage space is less than 1GB, please consider freeing up space.
2. Force restart iPhone
The reason why the device suddenly stops working and gets stuck is usually a random firmware crash. Moreover, under normal circumstances, a small amount of firmware crashes caused by screen stuck can be solved due to forced restart. As the name suggests, it works by forcibly shutting down the phone system and restarting it. This will not affect any information stored in the phone’s memory, so it is definitely a safe process.
The steps to force restart the iPhone vary depending on the iPhone model used. Please refer to the following video to force restart iPhone.
3. Delete iOS 16 update files from iPhone
Some fragments of the update file may have been downloaded but not yet completed. As a result, the update is broken. In this case, the damaged update file must be deleted first.
If you originally downloaded a software update but got stuck in “Verify Update”, please delete the iOS update file from your iPhone and try to download the update again. This is how to do it:
- Tap Setpoint on the home screen.
- Tap General.
- Tap iPhone storage. Find and click the update file. It should be listed in your iPhone app.
- Tap to select the iOS update file, and then tap the “Delete Update” button.
After deleting the update file, restart the iPhone, then go back to the Settings->General->Software Update menu, and then try to download and install the update again.
4. Fix iOS 16 update error with software
If all other methods fail, you can consider iToolab FixGo as an alternative. Since this update will not be downloaded or installed, you can update with FixGo or downgrade iOS 16 to iOS 15. First, you need to install the latest FixGo application on your Windows or Mac computer.
Free download from here.
Please continue with the following steps to fix updating iPhone issues:
Step1, Launch FixGo and connect your iPhone to computer, choose “Standard Mode”
Step 2, Choose iOS 15 firmware to download. (or you can choose any avaiable iOS version to downgrade)
Step 3, Repair iOS system.
Still stuck on verifying updates?
If after exhausting all possible solutions (including the steps above), the iPhone is still stuck on “Verifying Update”, please contact Apple Support to upgrade the issue for further assistance. Apple’s update server may always have problems, such as when it is crowded, unavailable, or currently experiencing technical problems. In this case, you can do a lot of things, but wait until the server backup is updated and it starts running. At that time, you can try to update iOS 16 again. You can also report the problem to your operator for other suggestions.
